Why was Zeebe not written in Go?
Hey Klaus! Short answer as far as I know, is because Camunda is a Java shop, and most products (ignoring front end) are written in Java as thats the common language most of us are familiar with. This is obviously arguable, especially now that Camunda has grown, but at the time the project was started, the pool of devs was much smaller.
I joined a little late in the story though, so maybe some of those that were there at the beginning can correct me
Another angle to the answer is that some of the inspiration for creating Zeebe came from Apache Kafka which is also written in Scala and Java.
Yeah, the original engineers were all highly experienced Java devs.
But the real question is: why was it not written it JavaScript?
It is indeed a very good architecture.
